General Information
We are situated in the beautiful north Pembrokeshire countryside on the edge of the Pembrokeshire National Park and overlooking the Preseli Hills which are reputedly the source of the Stonehenge Bluestones. Pembrokeshire is also home to Britain's only coastal National Park and this is only 10 minutes drive away. Visitors are attracted to the tranquil beauty of the countryside and can walk some of the 186 miles of the clifftop Coastal Path. It is an excellent location for birdwatching.

The Gardens

The lovely gardens offer 6.5 acres of grounds ranging from a wild dingle with natural springs to more formal gardens with herbaceous borders.
Our aim at Bro Meigan is to provide a peaceful haven where visitors are able to leave the 21st Century behind and contemplate the bounty that Mother Nature has to offer and it will appeal to gardeners, artists, photographers, birdwatchers, and wildlife enthusiasts.

The garden contains a wide range of plants that add perfume and interest whatever the season. We aim to develop the garden in a way that is sympathetic to the natural environment in which it sits. In addition to the many plants which attract bees (we have our own apiary), butterflies and insects, our hedgerows are selectively allowed to grow naturally with nettles and brambles and there is a wide variety of berry trees and shrubs.
Bird Watching

The location is a birdwatcher's paradise and the perfect place to watch and listen. Many of the birds to be found in Britain can be seen here including such rarities as the Water Rail, Peregrine and of course the Red Kite. Various bird boxes including a Barn Owl box have been erected. Swallows annually nest in our barns and Housemartins under the eaves of the house.
Wildlife

As well as specifically managing the plants and wilder areas with wildlife in mind, we encourage wildlife to visit by creating specific habitats for birds, butterflies, insects and small mammals. We also plan to create a large wildlife pond closer to the house (our ducks will also benefit by this!). A nesting box for Barn Owls has been put up in the barn and other nesting boxes installed throughout the garden . There is much evidence in the garden of the presence of badgers, foxes, and moles(!) and occasional sightings of hedgehogs, grass snakes and slowworms.
Accessibility
This is a hilly area and the gardens have been created on a gradual natural slope. Generally this does not cause problems, but the gradient down through the wooded dingle at the bottom of the garden is much steeper than the rest and is, therefore, less accessible for those with mobility problems, although a view over this area is afforded from the higher level. There are numerous seats throughout the grounds for people to rest a while and take in the views and walking sticks can be provided if required.
Plants for Sale
We have a good selection of plants for sale at very reasonable prices. These are provided for us by Moorland Cottage Plants.
Their nursery is on the northern slopes of the Preseli Mountains and all the plants are pot grown outside all year round and fully exposed to the elements. As a result the plants are completely hardy and very tough.

How to Find Us
We are situated on the B4332 between Eglwyswrw and Boncath to the west of the A478 (Cardigan to Narberth road)

Group Bookings
Groups are welcome by prior arrangement and we normally arrange Group visits for the days on which we are closed to the general public. These days are Mondays and Tuesdays (excluding Bank Holidays). This means the group will have exclusive use of the garden and it will allow us to give the party our undivided attention. For further information regarding rates and catering arrangements, please telephone us on 01239 841232.
Dogs
We are sorry, but dogs are not allowed into the garden or the Tea Room. However, well-behaved dogs that remain quietly on a short lead may sit with their owners on the patio whilst they have tea. Please note, however, that there are chickens and ducks roaming free in the garden. If your dog is likely to be excited by them (or other dogs) we ask that they be left in the car.
